about forkcat:

a cat painted on a disposable wooden fork

We produce countless single use items to be thrown away without being used even once. At the same time, mass production has lead to items that cannot be given value. They are priceless, as they are so cheap, that in the rich countries of the West, there is no low enough monetary unit.

For years cats have flooded the internet. They allow us to find momentary happiness and escape online. We forget the rapid increase of homelessness, the ransacked healthcare system, the ever shrinking middle class, a humanity who’s morals are dying faster than the planet.

By marrying the two, forkcats seemingly turn their backs on our problems and the barbarity. They are cute, colourful escapism. And yet, in the very material they are made of, are hidden those very problems; willful ignorance does not make the ugly truth disappear.

Stavros Tsiakalos
